The beauty and joy when Jordan and Joshua had their wedding in Lexington were unrivaled. The feeling was magical, and you could feel the love in the air. The crisp October air also helped to make everything perfect. I feel lucky that I was a part of this special day.
This couple's wedding took place at Corley Mill House, and the theme for the day was the 1920's vintage Gatsby. They had met at a concert many years ago, and it was lovely to see that love blossom into their marriage. They still enjoy music and hanging out with friends, as you'll see from their wedding vibe. They also enjoy spending time with family, which brings us to the angelic Braelyn.
You see, at this wedding, Josh not only married his wife, Jordan, but he also gained a daughter, Braelyn. Braelyn is Jordan's 6-year-old daughter, who loves her "Joshy" to pieces. Can you picture how cute and beautiful this day was yet? I put down some of it and some words that the couple shared with me in the pictures and paragraphs below.
- The Venue
Corley Mill House has everything you'd want in a wedding venue. From a tremendous at-home feel to a lovely water wheel, gazebo, and garden area, you'll fall in love with it. Jordan and Josh choose this venue because they loved the history that came with it. The older mansion house with beautiful details fit in just perfectly with their vintage wedding theme.
Everyone came dressed up in 1920's attire for their wedding, and it felt like a true love story straight from that era. It was beautiful. As I said earlier, I spoke a bit to the couple. This is what they had to say.
- What Was A Special Moment of This Day That Stands Out in Your Memory?
Jordan: For me, I think it was when I was walking down the aisle. All of my worries and nerves went away when I saw everyone I love there. I also remember quite clearly when Josh and I came together. Everything came together at that moment!
- What Was A Unique Touch or Decor Item That Stands Out in Your Memory?
Our grand feather centerpieces were a lovely touch. I am glad we choose to go with them, and I can still remember how beautiful they looked. The Gatsby style photobooth at our ceremony was another of our favorite touches. They added to the theme, and we were blown away by the detail of them!
The stunning floral work with feather accents was done by American Floral and they really helped bring the couple’s Gatsby vision to life. Other décor was done by Alexis Doktor Designs who also exceeded the expectations. There was also a memory table for grandparents and elders who passed away and couldn’t be there.
- What Was the Significance of What Your Wedding Party Wore?
My bridesmaids had on gold, sequin gowns with gloves to complement the color scheme (black and gold with pearl accents). Their dresses and accessories added to the "Gatsby" feel. They looked so amazing. I love that we choose to go with this theme.
The groomsmen wore sleek black suits and looked terrific too. Their suits complimented Joshua's cream-colored suit. They also received Star Wars cufflinks from him. Josh loves Star Wars, and it was a great way to bring his energy into our ceremony.
What was your color palette, and why did you choose to go with it?
Black, gold, and pearl/feather accents were the colors we used for our wedding. This was chosen to make the environment feel like an art-deco, 1920's party. They were the perfect colors to carry this theme. The result was quite lovely too.
- How Did You Do at Their Wedding?
A vintage wedding in South Carolina? Sign me up! I loved working with this beautiful family. I also loved being able to document the gorgeous people and atmosphere at their wedding. Jordan had this to say about us:
"Ray photography was nothing short of amazing to us. They not only ensured that we had every shot we wanted, but they also gave a helping hand wherever needed throughout the day. We will never have to look for a photographer again after finding this company!"
These kinds of glowing reviews make our work easier and let us know we're handling things right. Thank you for letting me share in your moment, Jordan and Joshua. I wish you guys all the happiness in the world.
