I love capturing weddings. The romance, adoration, and beauty on display are like refreshers for me. They remind me why I love being a wedding photographer. When LaToya and Verner reached out to me about capturing their wedding, I was so delighted. I had a great time doing so and asked the couple to tell us a bit about themselves. Here is how that went.
- The Venue
This couple had their wedding ceremony at St. John Missionary Baptist Church in Ridgeville. It was a beautiful day. You could see the love that they have for each other on display. The atmosphere is romantic and very emotional. I am glad I got to be a part of it. Here is how that day went from Mrs. LaToya's point of view.
- Could you please describe yourselves a little bit and tell us how you met?
We are two imperfect people who have vowed never to give up on each other. We initially met at the church where we would later be married. It was right before Covid 19 struck our nation.
Then fast forward one year, we saw each other again outside of church and struck up a conversation. (I initiated the conversation). I knew that I knew him, but we could not figure out from where. So, when I saw him, I said to him, "Don't I know you from someplace, haven't I seen you before?"
Well, I don't have to tell you that it seemed like I was using one of the oldest pickup lines (haha). In fact, if he were telling the story, he would say that she was trying to pick me up with that line.
Well, one dinner date and a soft kiss on the cheek later, we were in love. Our relationship is unique because we are mature, not just in age but in wisdom. We appreciate the gift of life and the treasure of love.
I love that our relationship is not tainted by the things that may cloud other relationships. Such as but not limited to working or striving for promotions or proving oneself to others, having children, raising children, or being a part of the proverbial rat race.
We are both retired, which enables us to embrace life and the simple wonders of pure love and a fulfilling relationship. He is a retired truck driver, and I am a retired military and former special education teacher. We love, laugh, and live DAILY.
- Awesome! Can you tell us a bit about your wedding day?
Our wedding day was a beautiful hot July day. The weather matched our love for each other (beautiful and hot)! It was so unique because it was a rare opportunity for my youngest daughter to prepare her mother for her wedding day. She kept me calm and made me feel beautiful. Our roles were reversed.
It was also s delicate, tender, devoted, committed, exciting, alluring, love-filled day. I was especially emotional because my oldest and only son passed away just seven months prior. Though I did not have a groom yet, my beloved son, Blake, and I planned my wedding last year, and he was to walk me down the aisle.
Well, needless to say, I was full of emotions on my wedding day. I was missing him, wanting him to be with me, near me. Blake's presence was so strong that I literally was overcome with internal joy. When the doors opened for me to enter, I felt the gates of my heart open. All the strength and love needed to make my day a success flooded into my heart.
- I am so excited for you, LaToya. Could you also share with us why you choose your wedding venue?
We chose a nontraditional wedding because we are a nontraditional couple. We decided to be married at the church because it was where we first met.
- What was a special moment of this day that stood out in your memory?
There were so many memorable moments. However, one particular moment that stood out in my memory was when the doors opened for me to enter; I looked for Verner's face. When our eyes met, I felt a peace and calmness that I had not previously experienced in other relationships.
He is my muse; he makes it all seem calm and right. He took all of my broken pieces and made me whole again. He makes me feel like the most beautiful woman in the world, and the best thing about that is, he does it every day.
Thank you so much for sharing your love story with us, Mrs. Smith. Before you go, how did you get to hear about us?
RayWeddingServices comes highly recommended. When we were planning our wedding, SEVERAL people asked if I had chosen a photographer. Each of those same people recommended RayWeddingServices.
As a result, I did not even consider anyone else and immediately reached out to him. He was attentive, caring, PATIENT, and was very accommodating. He took the type of pictures that told the story of our wedding day. He captured the essence and beauty of our love and our special day.
- Our Conclusion
I had such a lovely time capturing this couple's beautiful wedding. Thank you for letting me be a part of your special day Mr. and Mrs. Smith. I wish you both the very best now and always.
