The Wards are family and have been together for a long time. They got married last year July, and this will be their first anniversary together. I covered their lovely elopement wedding last year, and you can check out the post here.
I was also able to document this special anniversary milestone for them. We took some pictures before they headed for a lovely time at the Hilton Head. Another beautiful detail I'd love to add is that this is a military family, making this even more special. Meet The Wards:
- When did you guys get married?
We got married on July 7, 2020, at, Your Signature Design by Michelle Summers in Ladson, SC. It was a very lovely day and a dream come true.
- Where and How did you guys meet?
We met at a friend's cookout in Charleston, SC. That was how we clicked, and we became friends from that day.
- What are your three favorite things to do together?
There's a lot, but if I had to make a list, I'd start with how we enjoy long walks together. Being with someone you love on walks is so very special. We also love watching NFL football together and our once-a-week date night. It's one of the ways we get to bond and spoil each other. Most importantly, we love praying together as a Couple over each other daily. God is an integral part of our relationship.
- What is your best memory as a couple?
Our best memory as a couple is our romantic honeymoon weekend at Middleton Place. It was so beautiful, relaxing, refreshing, and romantic. We had a magical time, even though it was during the pandemic.
- How would you describe yourselves as a couple?
We are both very affectionate, supportive, and loving in our marriage. We love each other so much and feel lucky that we found each other to share our lives with.
- Tell us about the proposal!
Tasha: My husband took me to dinner at California Dreamers in Charleston. Afterward, my husband proposed to me at a beautiful gazebo on the Charleston Air Force Base. Our favorite couple song, Steady Love by India Arie, was playing when he proposed. It was so romantic and emotional.
- What do you love about each other most?
Alphonso: I love my wife unwavering support and love daily. The saying "Behind every successful man, there is a woman" is so true in our case. Most importantly, l love how she took care of me when l took sick in February 2021. This was during the Covid-19, and I had to stay in ICU for 5days. She was so kind and supportive, and it gave me strength.
Tasha: l loves the fact that my husband cares so much about my well-being. He also cares about my overall safety and makes sure everything is good at home. I am so blessed.
- What's the best thing about being married?
The best thing about being married is having someone that truly loves you and wants to be with you. It's lovely to be with someone who is open to having excellent two-way communication and always happy to show genuine affection to one another.
- How did you both celebrate, or how do you plan to celebrate your anniversary?
We plan on going to Hilton Head for our 1st Anniversary. It should be another fun and exciting time for us to bond with each other.
- What advice do you have for newly married couples?
Our advice to new couples is to pray together. Also, don't be afraid to show public affection. You care for each other; let the whole world know it. At the same time, keep your marriage private from outside advice or influence always. You are the only ones who really understand what's going on anyways. Most importantly, always respect each other in private and in public.
