Luquine and Willis Spells had their wedding on the 26th of August, 1989. This means that this passionate and caring couple has been married for 31 whole years! When you meet them in the photos, you'll see how amazing and strong their love is.
I was more than happy to shoot this couple's wedding anniversary photos. I also asked them to tell me a bit more about themselves and give us some good marital advice. The answers they gave and lots more are in the paragraphs below.
- Where Did You Guys Meet?
We met at a gas station called Kirbys in Ridgeville, S.C. It was very different back then from what it is now, but we're forever grateful for that day.
- Tell Us About the Proposal
Like we've already said, it was quite different back in the days, so I asked her father first if I could take his daughter's hand. After I got his approval, I remember we were sitting down and watching TV. That was when I asked, "Quan, will you marry me?" The journey to our wedding day began, and we've been together ever since.
- What Are Your Three Favorite Things to Do Together?
When you've been a couple for this long, there are many things that you love to do together. However, if we had to choose, we'd say watching TV, going out to eat, and fishing. I guess we haven't still dropped the habit from when the proposal happened. We also really love date night and enjoy fishing together too.
- What Is Your Best Memory as A Couple?
That would be our wedding day. It's lovely when you get a chance to say your vows to your soul mate. Sharing an experience like that in front of your loved ones is very special too. So, I'll say that our wedding day is our best memory as a couple.
- What Do You Love About Each Other Most?
Quan: I love how kind Willis is. It's one of the characters that attracted me to him back then, and he still has it now. I also love his smile.
Willis: I love the work ethic that has Quan has. She is also very independent, and these, amongst many others, are why she is the love of my life.
- What's the Best Thing About Being Married?
So far, we'd say enjoying each other. Knowing that you are not alone, and getting a chance to share all you have with someone you love is the best. Enjoying each other is the best part of being married for us.
- How Did You Both Celebrate Your Anniversary?
For our 31st wedding anniversary, we had Ray take pictures of us at Azalea Park. We love that we finally had a chance to do this, and after, we went to La Hacienda to eat. It was a perfect day because we got to do some of our favorite activities as a couple.
- What Advice Do You Have for Newly Married Couples?
We've discovered that when it comes to marriage, the following three phrases work wonders. Think about it, pray about it, and forget about it. They've helped us a lot through the years and will help you too.
- How Did You Hear About Us, And What Made You Decide to Work with Ray Photography?
I found Ray Photography when I was searching through google looking for a photographer. When I showed my wife the page, she agreed that he takes some good pictures. We decided to contact him, and that how we got here.
