No matter how excited you get for your wedding, at some point, you’ll feel overwhelmed. You’ll also feel stressed and even nervous. But those feelings don’t have to last. With some simple steps, you can make it better. If you’re a couple planning your wedding now, then this is for you. These seven simple tips will take the stress out your overwhelming wedding day.
- Delegate
Working with one or two trusted friends is important. You could also hire a wedding planner or a day-of-coordinator. You don’t want to wake up on your wedding day and have to handle every small issue. Letting someone else be in charge will give you small moments of peace. You deserve to have fun on that day too.
- Be Accepting
Take a look at the way 2020 has been. What level of planning could anyone have done to avoid this drama? The answer is none. Sometimes, things can be completely out of your control. Some unexpected things could happen on your wedding day. It could be a change in weather, or one of your guests could do something. At that point, be ready to accept that it is out of your control. Having a huge knot in your stomach because of it won’t solve anything. Like Elsa in Frozen sang, let it go.
- Schedule Only Necessities
A jam-packed wedding day might not be very helpful. As much as you’ll want to fit everything in, how about sticking to only necessities? You don’t have to schedule a group breakfast or spa session on that day. Instead, you could just have your hair and makeup session and move forward. That way, you’ll avoid having to rush and the stress that comes with hurrying things along.
- Have Alone Time with Your New Spouse
On your wedding day, you need to steal a few minutes to yourselves. It could be after you’ve said your vows and finished your ceremony. If you have a photo session, it could be after that too, before your reception. It’ll give you time to unwind and bask in each other for a bit. The relaxation will help you have more fun at your reception. At your reception, you can take time out to relax too. Chat a bit before it’s time for your first dance.
- Don’t Stray from Your Spouse
At your reception, you’re going to be very busy. Many of your loved ones will want to take some minutes of your time. You’ll also have to greet some of your guests personally. But don’t let these keep you away from your spouse for too long. You have to spend as much time as you can sticking to your partner on your wedding day. That way, when you think back to the experience, you’ll have lots of memories involving each other. It will also make it easier for your photographer (hopefully us) to catch some great candid sweetheart pictures of you both during your reception.
- Stay Snacked Up
Being angry because you are hungry is very possible. There’s even a term for it: “Hangry”. While some people could get too nervous to eat on their wedding day, some may be the opposite. Your nervousness could turn you into a stress eater. Whichever the case, being hungry will certainly be a problem, which is where snacks come in. Keep a bag of your favorite snacks handy to chase the hunger away. You’ll feel better for it.
- Embrace Your Feelings
For most couples, their wedding will be the biggest party they’d have every planned. It is okay to feel nervous. The anxiety is also normal because this is a very special moment in your relationship. Whenever you feel like it’s getting too much, pause and take a deep breath.
Remind yourself of how far you’ve come and the beautiful future ahead. You’ll feel better. If it doesn’t work immediately, you could pull your maid of honor or best man aside and vent for a bit. They’ll understand, and you’ll be back to top shape in no time at all.
Weddings and stress often accompany each other. However, with the simple steps above, you could make things better for yourself. Through it all, remember that what matters is the love between you and your partner. Best of luck!!!
