- Introduction
Makayla Dalton is of the senior class of 2020 at Woodland High School. They’ve had one hell of a year, but they’ll still be graduating victorious despite the circumstances. Some of them will even be having to do a drive through to pick up their graduation supplies because of the pandemic. Ever since Woodland High was established in Dorchester in 1999, this might be the first time that something like this is happening. Makayla Dalton was a cheerleader at Woodland High School. I took graduation pictures of Makayla and spoke to her about her time in school, her plans for the future, and many other things. This is what Makayla had to tell us:
- What Is Your Best Memory of Woodland High?
One of the best memories that I have from Woodland High School is cheering on the football team every Friday night! Woodland High School’s football team is known as the Woodland Wolverines and famous football star Tye Hill went here.
- What Are You Passionate About?
I am passionate about helping others when they are in need. I also love cheerleading and sports which is why I was a cheerleader while at Woodland High School.
- What Is the Craziest/ Funniest Moment You Had in School?
I think the craziest thing I ever did while in school was when I went and got a tattoo out of this man's shed. I have no further comments on how that went lol.
- What Are Your Plans for After Graduation?
After I graduate, I plan to attend college and major in nursing. I feel like it is a good career that aligns with my passion for helping people in need. I think I’d make a great nurse.
- Any Encouraging Words for Upcoming Students?
I’d say focus in school, listen to your teachers, study your books and do your very best on your tests and exams. After you graduate, you can then further your education in the things you love doing. You’ll be able to make personal decisions about your future then. I’d also advice upcoming students to always follow their dreams no matter what. There’s a reason that passion and dream was given to you. Never give up on yourself and your dreams.
- How Did I Do at Makayla’s Shoot?
It has always been a passion of mine to capture the stories of these young minds just as they are about to spread their wings and start a new phase of their lives. Graduation photoshoots are very important because they chronicle an achievement that is to be celebrated. Through these pictures, I can tell the stories of these brilliant young students because as they say, YOGO- you only graduate once (Okay seriously, does anyone say this?)
Makayla’s photoshoot went great and we had a lot of fun taking pictures. We also used props that were important to her while she was in Woodland High School. I even got a surprise! Makayla’s mum had been taking some nice behind-the-scenes pictures of me at work. It was nice to be the subject of pictures for a change lol. Many thanks to Makayla and her mom for this opportunity. I wish them both and their family the very best of luck in their future endeavors.
